Preston D. Cox "Dave" 86 years old passed away peacefully in his home on 12/20/21.

Dave was born June 10th 1935 in Northville, South Dakota to George and Ruby Cox. In 1944 at the age of 9 his family moved to Downey, California. When he arrived in Southern California and saw palm trees for the first time he thought he was in heaven. He graduated from Downey High School in 1953.

Dave married Lindia Fleming in 1955 and bought his first house in Bellflower, California. That is where they had their 5 children. In 1968 he accomplished his ultimate dream, he packed up the family and moved to his farm in Silverton, Oregon, where he raised kids, cattle and sheep.

He had a long career in construction working as a superintendent on many big projects throughout Oregon. One of his proudest accomplishments was when he was awarded the Craftsman of the Year and when he received a Lifetime Achievement award in construction.

Dave loved his family and loved spending time with them. He was often found lying on the floor surrounded by kids. He worked hard, played hard and was a very generous man.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Lindia Cox, his sons Preston D. Cox Jr., Jerry R. Cox (Penny), Randy G. Cox (Christy), Gregory M. Cox (Michelle) and Daughter Karen M. Brady (Joe). He has 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He will be missed.

Services will be Tuesday 12/28/21 at 1:00 pm at Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton, Oregon
