Ramon Arellano, 86, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous 10-year battle with Alzheimer's and dementia.

Ramon was born on March 27, 1939, in San Martín de Bolaños, Jalisco, Mexico, to Amando and Maria Arellano. As the eldest of ten children, he embraced the responsibility of being a provider and role model to his younger siblings from a young age.

On February 23, 1972, Ramon married the love of his life, Senaida Arellano. Together, they began building a life and family in Mexico. Seeking greater opportunities, Ramon made the difficult decision to journey to the United States, working in agriculture across the Pacific Northwest to support his family back home. After years of sacrifice, he was able to reunite with his wife and four children in Woodburn, Oregon.

The family initially lived with relatives before settling in Monitor, Oregon. Ramon worked at Van Veen Nursery/Iverson Family Farms for approximately 15 years, often alongside his wife and children, enduring the elements together. He later worked at Willamette Resources for another 15 years, retiring at the age of 70 after accomplishing his dream of paying off the family home and his truck.

A man of quiet strength, Ramon instilled in his children the values of hard work, honesty, respect, and integrity. His family was his greatest priority, and he dedicated his life to being their unwavering provider and foundation.

Ramon is survived by his devoted wife, Senaida Arellano; his children: Eva (Dahren) Chaparro, Armando Arellano, Eddie Arellano, Hilda (Rylan) Traeger, and Ramon Jr. (Danielle) Arellano; 12 grandchildren: Justin, Felicia, Noah, Clarissa, Derek, Cassie, Elijah, Keira, Jaden, Ian, Tomas, and Dominic; and 3 great-grandsons: Ivan, Camdyn, and Aziel. He is also survived by his siblings: Luis, Salvador, and Gaudencio Arellano; Clementina, Ester, Edelisa, and Manuela Arellano.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amando and Maria Arellano; his brothers, Refugio and Ignacio Arellano; and his beloved son, Fernando Arellano.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM at Unger Funeral Chapel in Mt. Angel. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Angel on April 25,2025 at 12:00, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. All are invited to join the family for a luncheon reception at the Parish Center in Mt. Angel.
