Richard Roland Hover (Dick) passed into God's loving arms from a short but courageous fight with cancer on January 4, 2022 at the age of 75 at home with his family by his side.

Dick was born to Roland and Lillian Hover in Medford, OR on October 21, 1946. He was raised in Medford, attended Church of Christ with his family, and was active in Boy Scouts. He graduated from Medford High School in 1964 and continued his education at Oregon State University where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. In 1968, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife Management.

After graduating, Dick became a naval flight officer in the US Navy and earned his wings in 1969. He served two tours in Vietnam flying in the F-4 Phantom as a RIO, with squadron VF-151 on the carrier USS Midway. While flight training at NAS Miramar in San Diego, he met his wife, Patricia (Pat) and they were married in 1972.

After his service completed in 1973, Dick and Pat moved to Orange County, CA where he began a successful career in industrial brush sales and started a family. He was a member of Elks Lodge in Yorba Linda. In 1983 the family moved to Lake Oswego, OR where he took a position with American Brush Company. He was active in fundraising for the Oregon State Athletic Scholarship Fund for many years while coaching his son's sports and serving on his fraternity's alumni board. After retiring, he and Pat moved to Woodburn, OR where he was active on the HOA board in his community.

He was a faithful follower of Christ and a member of River West Church in Lake Oswego, OR. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, was passionate about Oregon State sports, and had a strong love for his country.

Dick is survived by his wife, Pat; his daughter, Janet; his son, Brian; his grandchildren Joshua, Luke, and Ellie; and his beloved yellow lab, Maggie. Dick will be dearly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

A private service was held at Willamette National Cemetery, where he was laid to rest with full military honors. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at a later date.
