Ronald Dale Wright (Ron)March 27th, 1951

Born in Silverton hospital to parents.
Cecil Wright (father deceased- OCT. 13. 1988) and Doris Wright (Mother)

Siblings Sandra Currey, Randy Wright of Salem OR and Richard (Rick) Wright (Deceased - January 2006)

Uncle to Steven (Deceased -Nov. 20, 2000, Dale and Jay Carreia of salem OR, Mark of Eugene OR and Adam Currey of Springfield OR, Dan (Deceased-FEB. 6, 2002), Adam of Salem OR and Chuck Wright (Deceased- NOV 6, 1995), Chad Wright of Salem OR and his one and only niece Misty Currey of Salem OR.  He had many Great Nieces and a couple Great Nephews and one Great Great Niece.

Ron and the family moved from the Brooks/ Labish area that the family helped pioneer in 1954 but came back up threw out the years and eventually moved back up and stayed in the Labish area.

Ron played sports growing up he played baseball and football. He would walk home with his brother Randy after baseball and had a story where their cousins got caught stealing candy and they did too, and their Mother Doris made them go pay back the store clerk and sit and wait on their bed till dad got home for the rest of their punishment.  While telling the story many many years later Randy and Ron let Doris know that it wasn't the correct store they stole candy from that she made them pay the money too. They didn't want to open their mouth at the time and get more in trouble. 🤣

He Graduated Willows High school in 1969-1970 where he played football.  He played as a Blocker and lettered a couple times.

Ron farmed onions with the family, and He drove log trucks with Don Woods and his Dad Cecil Wright in the 1960's and 70s. He got the nickname Big Muddy because of how muddy his truck was.  When he had to stop driving muddy got dropped and Big Ron stuck in its place.

He had a brain tumor in his pituitary gland and had to have brain surgery in 1985. Ron Had a seizure when coming out of surgery and had to learn to walk and talk again. It started a long road to recovery and learning to live a different life. Ron had to learn everything over again How to walk and talk again.  He often got similar words mixed up like taste and smell or phone and remote and so on.  He one time changed his nephew's diaper (Steven) while Doris and Sandra were at the store and when they walked in the door, they herd him saying "this tastes bad… tastes real bad". As he walks down the hall with a dirty diaper   Sandra goes. "You mean smells bad right?" Ron says. "That's what I said it tastes bad!" Along the road to recovery The boys (his nephews) taught Ron a handshake when he was recovering, and it stuck just about every kid was taught the handshake after that and called it "Ron's handshake". Even his great nephews learned it and would come in and say hi and give him a handshake.

Ron loved to hunt and fish. Even with one eye he could do better shooting than most people with 2 eyes.  He loved the 49ers and was often seen wearing a 49ers hat or their gear. Ron also loved to play Pokeno with the family (bingo with poker cards) and to play Bingo. He was well known at the bingo hall where he played at   Ron would play multiple packets and would help you with yours and let you know if you were on or not. (If you were one away from winning)
He was also a good Cribbage player and would often play with his nephew Chad.

Ron always enjoyed time with the family and all the BBQ's and events that he got to see everyone. He always loved being silly for the kids. He would dress up like Santa one eye and all for the bingo hall and some family Christmases.  He would tell the kids when they asked what happened that Rudolph got out of hand and poked him in the eye, or an elf shot a pop cap gun or some silly story and would let them know it would be better by Xmas.

Ron usually was in good spirits.  Even the times he spent in the hospital.
He would always say. "I am sure going to miss you when I am gone" and Misty … his "best buddy" would tell him "We know we will miss you and that she was greedy and wanted him there for as long as possible". It wasn't long enough but it will have to do.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, June 17,2023 at 4 pm at Bethany Pioneer Cemetery in Silverton, Oregon.
