On the morning of Saturday, November 26th, 2022, Ruth Cock, a small-town Silverton hero to most, passed away at the age of 80. She joins her other half of 51 years, John Cock, after 7 years widowed. Her memories live on through her daughter Terri and son J.R. (Amy), her grandchildren Mandie (Jordan), Austin (Olivia), Brad (Maddie), Madison, Tessa, Emily (Rosendo), and Jennifer, her great grandchildren Amiyah, Kaydence, Willow, and Khloe, and by all that crossed her path.

Ruth was born on February 21st, 1942, to parents William and Cecile (Gerard) Studley and brother William Studley Jr. in Long Beach California. After graduating from Newport Harbor High, she went on to LSU to get her Bachelors in home economics. Ruth returned to California and began working in a nursing home where one of the residents set her up with her husband John. They married on September 7th, 1963. On their anniversary in 1979, they arrived in Silverton and settled into their new home. Ruth was a very active member in the Silverton community working with Meals on Wheels, Silverton Senior Center, little league, Kiwanis club, Safety town, Senior Center Thrift Store, Mural Society, and so much more. Ruth enjoyed volunteering, organizing events, leading trips for seniors, and attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events with John.

Per Ruth's request, her grandchildren are planning a celebration of life to be held on her upcoming birthday, February 21st, 2023, in Silverton at the Oregon Garden Resort at noon. All who knew Ruth are welcome to attend and share stories and memories.
