In loving memory of Terry Doran Ouellette, who went home to be with Our Lord on October 5, 2025.

Terry was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts September 10, 1941, to Madeline Elaine Ouellette and was raised in Attleboro by his adoptive parents, Kenneth and Hazel Freitas. He was loved, very much, by all.

He attended Coyle & Cassidy High School in Taunton, Massachusetts, and later went on to join the U.S. Army in September 1958. It was an honor for him to serve his country. We loved the stories he recounted about his time overseas, in Germany. He held those memories with such fondness. Most notably, he had the privilege of driving generals around and guarding high profile WWII Nazi war criminals at Spandau Prison in Berlin. He was very proud of his time in the Army. It was both rewarding and fulfilling.

After his time in the service, Terry married the love of his life, Wilhma J. Howard in October 1962. They started their family and soon bought their first home in Middleborough, Massachusetts, where they raised their five children.

Terry worked several jobs, including driving bus for Continental Trailways, and doing special tour routes, which were his favorite, before settling into sales, which he excelled at. He retired from Electrolux after 30+ years in 2004.

After retirement, he worked a short time for Gaylord Entertainment as a security guard at the Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, TN. He enjoyed country music and loved being able to watch the shows, on occasion, as he worked. He had lots of fun stories from that job.

He was a wonderful father who loved his family, very much. He was generous with his time and always willing to help a friend or relative in need. He always worked so hard to take good care of us. We were his priority. He brought us to Sacred Heart Church each Sunday and took us on Sunday drives. Some of the best memories were the many trips to the Cape, raking leaves to hide or jump in, sitting on the porch during rainstorms, playing basketball, learning how to make snow lanterns out of snowballs to line the driveway, and Christmas mornings. He loved to travel and always made sure we had a fun road trip vacation to look forward to each year. It was a highlight for all of us.

Terry was also very active in the Boy Scouts of America and served as Scoutmaster in Middleborough, Massachusetts. He enjoyed working with the scouts and especially enjoyed the time he got to spend with his son, Marc, during those scouting years.

Second to family, Dad loved food and laughter. We always teased him about sneaking into Aunt Ethel's cookie and candy jars and getting caught. He loved to tell jokes and play little practical jokes. He loved to make people laugh. He loved mealtimes with family, and especially dessert! One of his favorite restaurants was a smorgasbord in Pennsylvania called Dienner's. We got to take him there twice in the past couple years. He had fond memories of many years of visiting Pennsylvania, especially with Mum in the later years. His last time there, this past summer, was marked with tears as he remembered Mum. Second to that would be sharing a bloomin' onion with her at Outback.

Before he passed, we were able to take Dad on several trips, including the Oregon Coast, Washington, Silverwood in Idaho, North Dakota, Massachusetts, Maine, Amish Country in Pennsylvania, and most recently, Niagara Falls in New York. He was excited, talking about and planning his next trip with his daughter, Lisa, and grandson, Jarid.

Terry was blessed to have all of his children spend time caring for him in the years, months, weeks, and even days before he passed. He moved around and got to spend time with each of us. It was very special.  His daughter, Lisa, dedicated the last few months to his care. I know he is forever grateful to have been able to stay with family up until his passing.

We have many beautiful, fun, and funny memories to cherish and he will be greatly missed, especially by his family. The stories and Dad-isms will last a lifetime.

Terry is survived by his children, Kathy (Ken) Gibson of Tulsa, OK, Karen Moore of Hanson, MA, Lisa Maldonado-Embry of Salem, OR, Lori (Peter) Riegelmann of Silverton, OR, and Marc (Bethany) Ouellette of Alexander, ND. His grandchildren, Cindy (Marvin) Colbert, Cassandra (Mark) Twomey, Christine (Brad) Steele, Pauline Reaves, Jarid (Ashley) DeJesus, Teresa Maldonado, Antonio Maldonado, Madeline Maldonado, David Maldonado, Justin Ouellette, Jaime Ouellette, Joanne Ouellette, Joshua (Kristian) Spencer, Noah Riegelmann and Rianna Riegelmann and fourteen great grandchildren.

Terry is also survived by his loving sister, Marion (David) Gunning, sister-in-law Margaret Howard, and brother-in-law, Paul Howard, a very special niece, Rachel (Adam) Kowalczyk, friend, Felix Lee (our honorary brother), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wlihma J. Ouellette, his Great Gramma Flood, who he shared many, many stories of and had a very great love and affection for, his grandmother, Marion Ouellette, his beloved mother, Madeline E. (Ouellette) Atwood, his stepfather, Elwyn Atwood Sr., stepbrother, Elwyn Atwood Jr., his wonderful parents, Kenneth and Hazel Freitas, his brother, Leonard (Betty) Pickering, his brother-in-law, who was like his own brother, Frank Howard, his sister-in-law, Hazel Howard, and his sons-in-law, Keith Moore, Miguel Maldonado, and Robert Embry, and many aunts, uncles and cousins that he loved very much.

There will be a small memorial in Oregon, with family, and then a later memorial and service in Massachusetts, when he and Mum will be placed together at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.

In lieu of flowers, I know Dad would appreciate contributions, in Wilhma Ouellette's name, to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
