Timothy Miller, age 76, passed gently in the presence of his sister, Marianne Miller Sakewitz, while hospitalized in Portland, Oregon,

due to complications from a stroke a couple years ago, and lingering pneumonia.

He is survived by Marianne, his only living sibling, and her husband, Jonathan, Tim's good buddy of 40 plus years; Alan Miller, their older brother, passed previously in 2010.  Tim was the son of Andrew and Rose Miller, having been born in Silverton and raised in Brooks, Oregon, and resided there in the family home his entire life.

Other surviving family is his nephew, Colin Sakewitz (wife Bethany) and great nephews Milo (age 5) & Evan (age 1); nephews Dale & Brent Miller of Texas (sons of Alan & Louise Miller), and their children Ryan & Devon, and Christine and her children Leah & Bradley, all of Texas. Tim also has many cousins from both his mother's and father's sides of the family, many in the Gervais and Willamette Valley area.

While in the hospital, Timmy was visited by his long-time best friend, Bill Konold of Mt. Angel, and his nephew Colin and wife Beth to keep him company and to encourage him to hang on until Marianne & Jon could arrive from their travels.  The nurses of Providence took great care of Tim, for which the family is very appreciative.  Tim's sweet little great-nephew, Milo, wanted to visit his endearing Great Uncle Tim at the hospital, but he was not allowed because he was too young.  So he prayed in church, outloud with his own promptings, that his Uncle Tim would live long enough for his Gramma Marianne & Pappous Jon to return from their Europe trip in time to say goodbye to his Uncle Tim before he died.  And God granted his request. Marianne & Jon were able to spend an extra 3 days with Timmy, in a fairly alert condition, before saying their final goodbyes to him. Tim attended Sacred Heart Grade School in Gervais, then Gervais Union High, and finished up at JFK High School in Mt. Angel.

In his younger adult life, Tim was a long-haul truck driver, having driven through much of the United States, and then later a boat mechanic at Al's Marine in Hubbard, where he became a close friend of the family.  Tim also helped and supported his favorite beloved cousin Paul Zellner's car racing career as a valuable pit crew member and as a mechanic.  Paulie and Tim enjoyed together many outdoor adventures, including boating and fishing, crabbing & more fishing!

Over the years, Tim had many friends, a lot of whom it was customary to gather with & chat under his backyard giant Redwood tree!

The Rosary will be at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH in Gervais on Thursday evening, Sept. 15, at 7 pm following the evening Mass.

The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 11 am, also at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH followed by the burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Please consider donations to the Humane Society in honor of Tim's great love of his doggies, his beloved companions , in lieu of flowers, or plant a tree in his remembrance.
