Obituary

Truman Dean Daivs was born in Fullerton, California on June 28, 1936. He was the youngest of four children to Clarence and Susie Davis. He passed away at his home in Silverton on October 27, 2026, surrounded by his immediate family.

Truman attended Brea-Olinda High School in Southern California where he excelled at music, football, baseball and track.

In his early adult life Truman worked for Hycon Mfg Co. in Monrovia, California. He ran the lab that tested lenses for aerial reconnaissance cameras used by the US military and NASA. He designed an impressive multi bank collimator that assured precise optical alignment which was featured in a Los Angeles Times article at the time.

Truman and his first wife Martha moved their young family from Southern California to Silverton in 1967. After moving to Oregon Truman became a residential home builder. He was a skilled carpenter who designed many of the homes he built. He spent many evenings after work drawing floor plans and detailed elevations. He was a mentor to many young carpenters who later went on to become skilled craftsmen themselves.

Truman was a gifted singer. He sang as a boy at church and school and as an adult he delighted many with his beautiful melodic voice and his guitar, he loved participating in and observing several types of sports and music including attending children and grandchildren events.

The highlight of Truman’s week was always on Thursdays in Mt. Angel @ Evergreen Golf Course where he enjoyed many many years of spirited fun and games with his lifelong pals.

Truman is survived by his loving life Kim; they were married in 1981. He is also survived by his three children; Martin (Dana) Davis, Trudy (Chris) Irving and Shari (Todd) Davis: 8 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. His great grand daughter Nevaeh David preceded him in death in July of 2026.

Service will be held at Silverton First Christian Church on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at 11:00 am.
