William D. "Blackie" Beyer passed away on January 22, 2022.  He was born to William and Delphine Beyer on May 6, 1941.  He married Patricia Elliott on January 19th, 1963.  Survivors include his wife Patty, their 5 children, Brian (Lynette) Beyer, Gretchen (Robert) Perez, Rebecca (Randy) Schryvers, Brad Beyer, and Heidi (Eric) Totten, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  He is survived by his siblings, Sister Dorothy Jean Beyer, Kathleen Osegueda, Paul (Sue) Beyer, Rosemary Boen,  Lorrie (Joe) Fennimore and Greg (Rose) Beyer.  Bill is also survived by Sister Joan Pokorny who's always been considered family.

Blackie was given his nickname by his dad when he was little, no one knows the reason behind the name, but we're pretty sure it had something to do with him being mischievous or the blacksheep of the family.

He worked at, or was a co-owner of, Bochsler Hardware in Mt Angel for over 65 years.  We remember him telling us that it was good to have lots of customers but even better if they were your friends. His love of helping others also led him to becoming a volunteer firefighter.  He still would proudly tell everyone that he was an honorary Fireman.  He also served in the Air Force in the early 60's and was a member of the American Legion.

Blackie loved fishing.  As Patty said "he loved fishing, and he loved me, in that order."  His favorite fishing holes were Marion Lake, Diamond Lake, Ochoco, and Krumbo.  As his fishing buddies were passing away, several grandkids eagerly filled their spots.

Visitation will be at St. Mary's in Mt. Angel at 9:30 Saturday, January 29th followed by the Rosary at 10:30.  Immediately following the Rosary will be the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00
